Construction Division This Construction Division incorporates the Northern Ireland Materials Testing Station which was established in the Civil Engineering Department at Queen's University in 1945. The Division offers two main commercial services to industry:
QUBtest Materials Testing Station – tests construction and other materials, including concrete, aggregates, steel, soils etc. Technical Advisory Service -responsible for the Divisions special testing and consulting services.

Environmental Advice
The Technical Advisory Unit (TAU) is available to assist in the assessment of the environmental status of businesses leading to implementation of measures required to ensure compliance with current and future legislation. Areas to include waste & contaminated land, effluent treatment and disposal, and air pollution. Advisory services promoting environmental good practice leading to manufacturing competitiveness are also provided

Regulatory Compliance/ Troubleshooting Many products require regulatory approval before they can be released to the marketplace. Examples include cosmetics, disinfectants and medicinal products. The Technical Advisory Unit (TAU) can advise developers and formulators on gaining the necessary product approval. We can advice on packaging, labelling and safety requirements for many products. The Unit is available to give advice on production-line problems and provide solutions necessary for corrective action.

Testing & Quality Advice The Technical Advisory Unit (TAU) offers advice in the areas of product, materials, and environmental testing, and also manufacturing quality and good practice. The Unit will advise on the appropriate test methods and accreditation.
