Northern Ireland
Science Park
Based across three sites in Northern Ireland, NISP is set to become
a focal point for the development of the province's knowledge-based
economy.
NISP, which will be Northern Ireland's
only science park, is a £73m project that will create 400,000
square feet of high specification buildings across its three sites
and provide for up to 3,000 jobs.
While NISP will be providing tenants
with state of the art property facilities at very attractive rentals
in its sites at Belfast's Queen's Island, Coleraine and Londonderry,
there are numerous other advantages to locating in the park.
NISP has three broad objectives:
• To encourage and support the start-up, incubation and development
of innovation led, high growth, knowledge based businesses.
• Provide an environment where larger and international businesses
can develop specific and close interactions with a particular centre
of knowledge creation.
• Create formal and operational links with local universities,
higher education institutes and research organisations.

Product and Technology
Transfer Programme
Indigenous businesses trading with a limited product portfolio are both limited in their ability for growth and more exposed to competitive pressures. This programme identifies commercially proven opportunities developed by overseas companies which can be introduced to the local company thus encouraging company growth especially into export markets.
Essentially, it is a method that allows a company to expand its product range without having to fully develop the product itself. The most popular type of deals is licensing, where the licensor assigns the rights of a product/service for a specified market area to the licensee.
The International Business Initiative™ addresses this problem by strengthening the product portfolio of participating businesses.
